FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are your opening hours?

Our hours vary seasonally but are usually as follows: Spring/Autumn (March, April, May, September, October): 10am - 6pm Summer (June, July, August): 10am - 8pm Winter (November, December, February): 10am - 5pm Please note we are closed in January, any queries please contact us through email.

Do you offer glassblowing courses?

Unfortunately not, but we hope to be able to in the future. We do work on glass in the studio and shop most of the day when we are open, so feel free to come and watch us at work. We will do our best to demonstrate and answer any questions you might have.

Can I order something from the shop that I don't see on the website?

Yes. We offer most of our own made products through the website but for anything else we sell in store, please get in touch via email, or call us in opening hours and let us know what you are looking for. We will do our best to help if we have it in stock.

Do you do glassblowing demonstrations?

Yes, we are a working studio so usually someone will be working on the torch. If not or if only one of us is in, just ask and we will do our best to show you what we do. We apologise if the shop is very busy and we have to serve customers. your patience is appreciated.

Do I have to book to see glassblowing demonstrations?

No, no booking required. We are a working studio so we are often working on the torch throughout the day. If not for any reason, (eg. if we are serving customers or otherwise busy), just ask and we will do our best to demonstrate what we do.

What sort of glassblowing do you do?

We work with borosilicate glass on a blow torch, this is often called Lampwork. We use glass rods and tubes to create our pieces; figurines, jewellery, small ornaments, decorations and vases etc. We don't do what is known as Furnace work, which is glassblowing on a much larger scale, as you may have seen on T.V.

Can you do glass repairs?

Unfortunately we can't usually repair glass items that we didn't make. There are many different types of glass and often we would cause more damage if we don't know the type of glass we are dealing with or have the neccessary equipment. We can of course offer repairs or replacements for anything that we have made in our studio.

Do you do custom orders?

Yes and no. While we do take on custom orders it largely depends on the individual order. We can't guarantee that we will take on your request, but please get in touch and we will see what we can do. Please bear in mind that we are limited on size and during summer months it is less easy for us to take on custom orders due to our busy schedule. If you are wanting something that we already make but with slight adjustments, eg. colour change, that is no problem. Please get in touch with us via our contact page or call us, or add a note for us when you place your order.

Is it best to book ahead to see a demonstration if we are a large group or school party?

Yes, it would be best to. We are a small studio and shop, so to give you the best experience we can organise ourselves so that we can give you our full attention. Give us a ring on 01320 366651 or email us and we will sort out a time and date that would suit you. There is no charge for glass blowing demonstrations as we are usually at work all day.
